Day 1: Full Day Trip to Hell’s Gate National Park
Early in the morning, we will start our full day trip to Hell’s Gate National Park with a 90km drive from Nairobi at the hotel of residence taking the route leading us to the Park. Hell’s Gate National Park is just a short hours drive from Nairobi – making it a perfect day escape. This Park lies south of Lake Naivasha in Kenya, north west of Nairobi. The Park is named after a narrow break in the cliffs, once a tributary of a prehistoric lake that fed early humans in the Rift Valley.
While Hell’s Gate is known primarily for its landscape, there is still game to be spotted within the park. Buffalo and antelopes are especially common sights, and the park is also home to a variety of birds. There are no predators or dangerous large game in the park. You will also have the chance to see the natural hot geysers, eagle and vulture breeding grounds as well as activities by visitors in the park such as walking, cycling, and rock climbing.
Your day trip to Hell’s Gate National includes full coverage of your bicycle for the cycling experience, but of course, there will be a safari vehicle right behind you throughout the trek just in case you get tired and feel like no more walking. Your first stop will be the spectacular Fisher’s Tower, where the adventurous can choose to ascend the 45m tower.
